Organization
The Key Laboratory of Marine Special Materials of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology was officially recognized on July 23rd, 2018. It is based on the university-running characteristics of “Three Marine-Related Disciplines and Nuclear Science and Technology” and scientific research base of Harbin Engineering University, closely focusing on the strategic layout of building China into a strong maritime country and the development strategy of military-civilian integration. The main research direction of the laboratory is the special demand for material performance of military and civilian equipment in the marine environment. The laboratory takes it as its responsibility to assist in the development and application of marine special materials of China, and build China into a new strong maritime country.
Its main research directions include:
1.Marine lightweight functional materials
2.Marine acoustic materials
3.Marine special functional coating materials
4.Marine new energy materials
The laboratory currently has 55 permanent staff, including 35 professors, 31 doctoral supervisors, and 54 teachers with doctoral degrees. The laboratory focuses on the introduction and cultivation of outstanding talents, and improves the mechanisms for introduction, cultivation, utilization and evaluation of high-level leading talents and young top-notch talents. In the context of Double First-Class construction, we will strengthen the reserve of laboratory teachers, increase the number of top talents and talents’ amount, and enhance the overall strength of basic research.
The laboratory currently has a “Material Microstructure and Surface Interface Analysis Platform” and a “Material Performance Evaluation Platform”. The former one has Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-Ray Diffractometer, X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometer, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Infra-Red Spectrometer, Raman Spectrometer, Surface Area Porosity Analyzer and other instruments. The latter one analyzes the mechanical, thermal, acoustic, electrical and other characteristics of materials, and has Hardness Tester, Tensile Tester, Universal Tester, Thermal Analyzer, Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar and other instruments. The laboratory has over 100 sets of instruments and equipment, of which over 10 sets are worth of 1 million yuan, and over 90 sets of 100, 000 yuan. Large-scale equipment of the laboratory is shared through Sharing Platform of Large-Scale Instrument and Equipment of the university and the Shared Technology Innovation and Entrepreneur Service Platform of Heilongjiang Province, with over 60 sets of shared equipment.
Since the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the laboratory has received an annual research funding of over 30 million yuan. We sincerely welcome experts and scholars from home and abroad engaged in this field to collaborate with us for innovative exploration and research.
